El-Kanemi Warriors picked up a slim 1-0 win over visiting Nasarawa United in Kano to start their Glo NPFL campaign on a winning note.

Playing with about 65 percent of their players from last season, El-Kanemi dominated the early proceedings with Sunday Adeniji forcing Nasarawa goalkeeper, Dami Paul, into two fantastic saves.

They finally got the breakthrough five minutes from the half time break when Abraham Audu’s left footed strike nestled into the net of Nassarawa leaving Paul with no chance. The second half saw a much more balanced display as both teams cancelled out themselves although none was able to create any clear cut chance.

However, El-Kanemi appeared the most likely to score the second goal of the game as the lively Sunday Adetunji was causing the Nasarawa backline all sort of troubles.

Nasarawa United failed to put up any form of resistance to the free flowing passes of El-Kanemi Warriors who increased the pressure on the visitors as the game progresses.

Despite their dominance El-Kanemi failed to add to their one-goal lead and the battle of two former Kano Pillars Coach in Salisu Yusuf of El-Kanemi and Baba Ganaru of Nasarawa United ended in the former’s favour.
