Reigning Nigeria Premier League champions, Kano Pillars will begin the defence of their title with a trip to Owerri where they will clash with old rivals, Heartland FC in a match analysts have dubbed as the star match of the week.
This mouthwatering fixture was a product of the official draw for the 2014/15 Nigeria premiere league frames which took place on Wednesday in Abuja at the prestigious Transcorp Hilton hotel.
In other pairings, Federations Cup holders, Enyimba International of Aba will trade tackles with next door neighbours, Akwa United while it will be a battle of the returnees to the top flight, as Wikki Tourists of Bauchi engage Shooting Stars of Ibadan.
El-Kanemi Warrious of Maiduguri and Nasarrawa Utd. will burn the grass when they clash at the Sani Abacha stadium, Kano, Warriors’ adopted home.
Giwa FC of Jos and Abia Warriors will try each other for size at Ram Pam stadium just as Bayelsa Utd and Lobi Stars will trade tackles in Yanegoa.
FC Taraba will ambush Rangers International of Enugu in Jalingo while Dolphins FC of Port Harcourt and newly promoted Kwara Utd of Ilorin will clash in the Garden City. Sharks of Port Harcourt and Sunshine Stars of Akure have to keep their own date.
The draw was graced by football and other sports personalities including the Director General of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Hon. Gbenga Elegbeleye and some former internationals like Peter Rufai, Victor Ikpeba and Daniel Amokachi.
