Golden Eaglets
The Golden Eaglets will battle Guinea tomorrow in a Group A match at the African U17 Championship which could well determine World Cup qualification for either side.
The Eaglets beat hosts Niger 2-0 in the opening match of the tournament on Sunday and Guinea also beat Zambia 1-0 in the other game of the group.
A win for either side tomorrow would guarantee them six points, a place in the semi-finals of the competition as well as a berth at the 2015 FIFA U17 World Cup in Chile.
Eaglets coach Emmanuel Amuneke saluted his team for getting off to a winning start, while promising improvements in subsequent matches.
“We took our chances and defended very well.
“Now we have to see how we can grow from strength to strength.”
Guinea skipper Mohamed Mory Korouma promised his team will be better against Nigeria on Wednesday.
“We are more talented than what we showed today (against Zambia),” he said.
“In the next games, we will show our talents.”
Guinea were without three of their top stars on account of injury.
