Man beats wife to death in Ondo

Akure—A 56-year-old man, Oluwole Oloyede, has been arrested by the Police in Akure, Ondo State capital, for allegedly beating his wife, Morayo, to death over a disagreement.

Oluwole, according to eyewitnesses, beat his wife to coma. Efforts by their neighbours to mediate during the fight were rebuffed.

The husband was said to have asked the neighbours to mind their business as he was the “owner of his wife and was out to discipline her and teach her some manners.”

The couple reportedly fought for over 30 minutes using dangerous weapons on each other. At a point, the couple locked themselves in and continued the fight, until neighbours forced their apartment door open.

The deceased was reportedly met on the floor bleeding profusely. She was said to have been rushed to the State Specialist Hospital, Akure, where she later died.

The suspect is currently being detained by the police and will be charged to court for murder.

Police spokesperson, Wole Ogodo, said the suspect will be charged to court as soon as detectives complete their investigations.

Meanwhile, the corpse of the deceased has been deposited at the mortuary of the hospital.

Three robbers nabbed

In another development, three members of an armed robbery gang said to have been terrorizing the residents of Ode Aye in Okitipupa area of the state have been arrested.

They were arrested after they robbed one Benson Clementinah of cash and other valuables at gunpoint.

Police sources said the suspects were residents of Gbagudu Street, Idepe, Lawoye Street, Ode-Aye and Igoorisa Street, Ode Aye, all in Okitipupa Local Government Area of the state.

The victim identified the leader of the gang that robbed her, when they were paraded by the Police.
