Awka—THE Catholic Archbishop of Onitsha, Most Reverend Valerian Okeke and his Awka counterpart, Most Reverend Paulinus Ezeokafor, have called on Nigerians to show love and preach peace, especially at this period of Christmas season, saying both peace and love are needed at this trying time.

In their separate Christmas messages, they observed that no meaningful development could take place in an atmosphere of rancor.

Okeke said: “As we celebrate Christmas, my message is a request to all children of God and men of goodwill to give peace a chance. The mission of the redeemer of the world, our Lord Jesus Christ, is to bring peace. He lived peace and signified peace and He expects everybody to imbibe peace in all their dealings.

“We know that at all times, human beings, including politicians, priests and others, search for peace. It is unfortunate that politicians are making the game of politics a do or die affair. And I pray that as we enter the election year, peace should be uppermost in the minds of Nigerians. Peace is not a one chance thing.”
