Rojenny urges Danagogo, Keshi to resign

Sports enthusiast and proprietor of Rojenny International Sports Stadium, Oba in Anambra State, Rommy Ezeonwuka has demanded that Minister of Sports, Tammy Danagogo and the Super Eagles Technical/Coaching Crew should resign their appointments in shame for their lack lustra attitude within the period of Eagles qualification matches.

Speaking to newsmen yesterday in Onitsha, Ezeonwuka also called for a total ban on our foreign based players and their replacement with home based ones from the local Premier League because the foreign based players are now exhibiting acts of arrogance and non challenge in the field of play.

He suggested that it would be an ideal to re-introduce the method of assembling local players from the champions league and camping them for at least two years in a conducive environment like Rojenny Sports Stadium, just like when the 1993 Super Eagles were camped in Rojenny for two years and three months before they jetted out and demolished many teams and brought the trophy home.

According to him, “for now, Nigeria has no formidable team. We won the 2013 AFCON trophy because the team was built around home based players with only few foreign based ones. It is easy to assemble players and nurture them to grow up to the standard we need in all sporting events. After oil, sports is the second highest revenue yielding venture. Jamaica used sports to control youths restiveness. Government should provide facilities for all sporting events to train our youths”.

Ezeonwuka who has a chieftain title of ‘Ogirishi Igbo’, urged the federal government to adopt a policy whereby every secondary and tertiary institutions in the country must establish sporting facilities for an all year round sporting activities.
