Youths working for Linda Manufacturing Company at Agege Area of Lagos, yesterday, staged a peaceful protest to the state House of Assembly over the death of their colleague, Nnamdi Solomon, while on duty.

The workers alleged that the company’s management did not only fail to grant the deceased’s request for permission to go home after complaining of stomach pains, but also abandoned his remains in the rain within the premises for two days.

One of the workers of the company, which manufactures weave-ons, Vincent Victor, who led the protest, explained that the company, owned by a Chinese, had been exploiting its workers for a long time, adding that the death of their colleague prompted the protest.

A member of the House, Bisi Yusuf, who represents Alimosho Constituency 1, confirmed the incident and expressed regret about the company’s attitude to its workers.
He told the aggrieved workers: “We know what you are going through. We are going to investigate the matter and we will not spare any guilty person, no matter who he or she is.”
He urged the aggrieved youths to remain calm and allow the House to investigate the issue.
