KANO – A Kano based Human rights activist and immediate chairperson of International Federation of Women Lawyers, Hajiya Hussaina Aliyu weekend survived attack by unknown gunmen who snatched her car at gunpoint.
Hussaina told Vanguard on phone that she was returning home by 7.00pm when she was accosted by gun wielding men by the entrance gate of home.
The Human Right Lawyer explained that she was forced out of her car at gun point by the attackers who fired shots in the air and vanished.
Hussaina stated that the operation that barely lasted 60 seconds made her lost vital documents to the invaders, adding formal complaint have been lodged with the police for appropriate action.
She revealed that a comprehensive details of personal effects that were lost to the attackers have been filed with the security agent.
The Human Right activist however expressed gratitude to God for escaping the incident unharmed, adding that “I give Glory to Allah for His mercies.
The weekend attack the former Chairperson of International Federation of Women Lawyers was coming on the heel of escalating incident in the city that has triggered apprehension among the dwellers.
A security sources in the city confided in Vanguard that attack on motorists has reached embarrassing level amid saturation of security check points.
He stated “hardly a day pass without report of car snatching in the city and the ones that were recovered were those abandoned by the thief due to inbuilt security”.
When contacted, the Acting Public Relations Officer, Kano police command, DSP Mustapha Abubakar declined comments.
