Lagos— A prosecution witness and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, Tani Molajo, yesterday, told a Lagos High Court sitting at Igbosere how he was defrauded of N19 million by two estate agents, Emmanuel Adejo and Obi Fortune.

Molajo, who was led in evidence by Adetola Rotimi, said the defendants sold his land for N19 million without his consent, adding that he got to know about the secret transactions between the agents and some of the buyers in 2011, when the buyers could not get the lands they paid for.

The SAN, who is the owner of Paradigm Associates, said the incident happened while they were working with him as estate agents.

He further told the court that the defendants also stole N5 million from one Obinna and Ugochukwu Okpara, which was meant for the property they sold to them.

“They stole N1, 880,000 from one Adekola Bunmi and N7,480,000 from Chike Anikwe and N2.50 million property from one Eleazu,” he said.

He stated that the defendants sold about 12 plots of land belonging to his company, Paradigm Associates, for N 2 million per plot, instead of N700,000 he instructed them and pocketed about N19 millon.

The defendants had been arraigned in January over the alleged theft of N19 million.

They are facing an eight-count charge bordering on conspiracy and stealing preferred against them.

The prosecuting counsel, Adetola Rotimi, told the court that the defendants committed the alleged crime at Isheri Osun, behind Jakande Estate, Isolo.

According to her, the offence is punishable under Section 516, 309 (9) of criminal code laws of Lagos State.

The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges against them and were granted bail.

Justice Adebiyi adjourned the matter to November 19 for cross examination.
