The 2014 Chevron Tennis Clinic came to a stylish end weekend at the Lagos Lawn Tennis Club, with no fewer than 100 players basking in the euphoria of participating in the foremost developmental programme in the country.

The players, ranging between the ages of eight to 14, were appreciative of the sponsors of the programme, promising to make the most of the exposure and experience they gained from the holiday coaching clinic.

Speaking in an interview with Sports Vanguard, 12-year old Michael Oshewa said that “I am very grateful for this opportunity by Chevron to learn more about tennis and I can confidently say that I have learnt a lot. New things I learnt during this clinic include how to serve, how to hit the ball hard with my back-hand and how to serve aces.”

12 year-old Ayoola Michael said that “being here has been very interesting for a lot of reasons. I have learnt a lot of things, which I would not have learnt had it been I did not come here.

For 14 year-old Christopher Bulus, the gains of being in the clinic far outlives any gain he had made in his budding tennis career in recent years.

“What I have learnt from my instructors and coaches are life-changing. I have become a better tennis player in the past weeks and more importantly, I have learnt how to manage my temper when on court and also learnt to show respect to the umpires, my opponent and fans”, said Bulus.
