Akwa Ibom Government has restated its willingness to remain a shareholder in Champion Breweries Plc, Uyo, even as Heineken Group has indicated readiness to invest in the company.

Governor Godswill Akpabio, who stated this when Heineken President in Africa and the Middle East, Mr. Siep Hiemstra, paid him a courtesy visit in Uyo, said: “We pledge that the state government would still remain a shareholder in Champion Breweries Plc.”

Speaking earlier, Mr. Hiemstra said the future of the breweries was to make better investment plans and that the state was by far a better place to discuss feasibility studies.

He congratulated the governor on infras-tructure development in the state.
