Oshiomhole

BENIN CITY— GOVERNOR Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State has assured security agencies in the state of continuous support and cooperation in combating crime in the state. The governor gave the assurance, yesterday, when he received the new AIG Zone 5, Mr. Musa Daura at Government House, Benin City.
Oshiomhole said “We appreciate that nothing is possible without security. Maybe in the distant past, not many Nigerians understood the issue of security as something that is a precondition for every other thing you want to do. Over the past few years, more and more Nigerians have come to recognise that without security, there can be no peace.
So, it is clear that we all need to contribute our quota by supporting security agencies to maintain law and order in our state. So, I want to assure you that you can take our support for granted. In any way and matter you want to consult with us, feel free and if we have any, we will not hesitate to reach out to you.”
Oshiomhole, who acknowledged the efforts of security agencies in the state, said “Let me use this opportunity to also thank the commissioner of police as well as his officers and men for their contributions in making Edo a relatively safer place compared to other South-South states. We have had our fair share of crime and criminality but we also have enough evidence that criminals have paid heavy tolls as a result of the efforts of the Police and other security agencies.”
Earlier, the New AIG, Zone 5, Musa Daura said he was at Government House to inform the governor of his recent posting to the state as the new AIG, Zone 5. He said, “Before coming here, I was briefed by the CP on how you have assisted the security agencies generally in fighting crime in the state. There is no way we can achieve peace and order without the assistance and cooperation of the state government. You have done a lot and I have no doubt in my mind that you will continue. I was going round this week and I saw a lot of achievements made by your aministration and I have no doubt that you are equal to the task.”
