NITMA 2014 to honor excellence, outstanding contributions

Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) has said that it would celebrate excellence and outstanding contributions in Nigeria’s Information Technology (IT) space at its 2014 National Information Technology Merit Award (NITMA).

The award which annually recognizes the best of the Nigerian IT profession and industry will hold at the Muson Centre, Onikan, Lagos, this November.

The NCS President, David O. Adewumi said with optimism that the NITMA 2014 would honour people have made significant impact in expanding the frontiers of IT in Nigeria.
The awards Nite, according to him would celebrate the best of Nigerian information technology creativity and innovation changing society in fundamental ways.

He said that the award winners would be recognized for being inspiring symbols through their expertise and hard work.

“Annually through NITMA, the NCS honours and rewards excellence and tremendous contributions in the development and deployment of Information Technology in the country and the Diaspora. Category awards are based on IT specialization, NCS standards and global best practices.

“An expected highlight already generating immense interest is Information Technology‘s most prestigious award – the IT Personality of the year award” he explained.
Also attracting serious attention, he said are the Professional fellowships that will be conferred on deserving practitioners.

The high profile award Nite promotes excellence, high performance and innovation within the Nigerian IT community to encourage such performance from practitioners, organizations and stakeholders.

However, the Nigerian champion of information technology innovation, education, research and entrepreneurship uses NITMA to reflect the value it places on hard work, dedication, merit and outstanding accomplishments in this most critical sector underpinning the whole of the society and economy.

NITMA is about changing society, beaming a positive light on the IT sector and building a legacy that speaks to the unique values NCS promotes.

The annual event attracts not just professionals, innovators, researchers and entrepreneurs, but also policy makers and decision makers in the private and public sectors.
Running since 2009, NITMA is credible, forward looking and important in promoting long term sustainability of the IT sector and developing Nigeria’s knowledge society. It is a responsibility that defines the essence of NCS.
