The drama in the administration of football in Nigeria continued yesterday with the return of president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji Aminu Maigari to the secretariat of the football house.
Addressing the media in his office, Maigari said he was in the office momentarily as part of the process of his stepping down from office.
He also defended the series of letters which the world football governing body, FIFA has written to the country with the threat of a possible suspension should the faction led by Chris Giwa continue to remain in office.
“We are here on the world interim because we are about to complete our tenure and a new board will soon be in place to take charge of the running of the federation, so we are here now on an interim measure.
“FIFA is the owner of this game that we are so passionate about and when they direct we have to as quickly as possible comply with what they are saying… So FIFA has to direct on how the game should be administered”.
Maigari also denied receiving any directive from the Minister and Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Dr. Tammy Danagogo restraining him and his rival Chris Giwa from going to the NFF Secretariat.
Reacting to the 2015 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and their counterparts, the Bafana Bafana of South Africa today, Maigari said Nigeria will win the match
