Bauchi—Following an attack by some unknown gunmen at the Federal College of Education in Kano, Bauchi State Police Command said that it has deployed plain clothes security personnel in tertiary institutions across the state to protect them against attacks by gunmen.
This is even as the Police said it has embarked on patrol to beef up security in the city, particularly at government institutions and schools.
Apart from this, Police checkpoints have re-appeared at strategic locations in the metropolis, especially the entrance roads into the state from Jos, Kano, Gombe and Maiduguri, while motorists were subjected to intensive search.
Spokesman for Bauchi Police Command, DSP Haruna Mohammed, who confirmed the measures taken to protect both secondary and tertiary institutions in the state said: “The Police is leaving nothing to chance by ensuring the security of lives and property in the state, particularly at institutions of learning.
The command has adopted many security measures to safeguard the lives of students in their schools”
“There is no cause for alarm because security has been beefed up at the various institutions of learning across the state.”
