ABEOKUTA—A forum of the South West Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, lawmakers has called on the Inspector General of Police and management of other security agencies  in the country to provide adequate security during the August 9 governorship election in Osun State to avoid violence.

The PDP lawmakers in South West states houses of assembly, who spoke at a meeting in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital also appealed to President Jonathan Goodluck to rescue the abducted Chibok school girls.
In a communiqué after the meeting, signed by 15 members of the states houses of assembly from Ogun and Oyo states,  they called on the National Working Committee of the PDP to fast track a genuine reconciliation.

According to the communiqué,  “owing to the calls by various groups,  individuals and associations for the President to declare his second term bid to sustain and guarantee the on-going transformation agenda, our forum pledges our readiness to support his Excellency towards realising this goal.

”While commending the President for his determination and zeal to ensure that insecurity become a thing of the past, we also appeal to your Excellency not to rest on your oars in attempt to rescue the abducted Chibok girls, using the best option that will not put the lives of the girls in danger.

“The forum wants to call on   the National Working Committee of our party to put measures in place to fast track a genuine reconciliation process  across the South West states and all other states of the federation to boost our chances in the forthcoming general elections.”
