AKURE – GOVERNOR Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo State, yesterday, called on security agencies in the country to device  more proactive ways of tackling crime.
He spoke at a security summit organised by the state command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC,  in Akure.

Speaking through the Secretary, Cabinet Services, Mr. Gbenga Elewuju, Mimiko urged the citizens to always provide security agencies with useful information to help sustain the existing peace in the state.
Mimiko, who expressed optimism that the summit would contribute to solving the insecurity challenge facing the country, assured of his administration’s commitment to giving all security agencies the needed support.

The summit, which had in attendance representatives of all security and para-military agencies in the state, suggested ways of preventing any breach of security in the state as well as solutions to security challenges in the country.
The state Police Commissioner, Mr. Isaac Eke, who was represented by Lasisi Titilola and the 32 Artillery Army Brigade Commander, represented by Lieutenant Colonel Ibrahim Abass, said all security personnel should work together in tackling all security issues.

Also speaking, the representative of the Nigeria Prisons Service, Babatunde Ogundare, the state Director of National Orientation Agency, NOA, Mr. Bode Famose, as well as the state commander of the Vigilante Corps, Akinwunmi Gideon, described security as everybody’s business.

Earlier, state NSCDC Commandant, Mr. Andy Ugwumba, said the summit was meant to fashion out cooperation among security agencies in the state.
