Sapele—The Federal Government has said that it will complete the East-West Road by December, 2015, to speed up infrastructural development, accessibility and uninterrupted human and vehicular movements across the Niger Delta region.

The Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Dr. Steve Oru, disclosed this in Sapele, Delta State, at a reception in his honour by Pace-Setters Social Club of Nigeria.

He said that completing the East-West Road was a priority project of the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan, adding that funds had been appropriated in the 2014 budget of the Federal Government to complete the road before the end of next year.

According to the minister, the completion of the road will attract more foreign investments, ease the sufferings of the people  as well  encourage business activities in the region. He urged the people of the region to support the policies of the Federal Government at all times.

Those sworn-in as club’s executive include Mr. Okpe Inoaghan (President); Matthew Okotie (Vice President), Innocent Onumadu (Secretary); Okpe Mafuru (Treasurer); Goodluck Oyibo (Auditor); Anthony Owumi (Provost Marshal); Charles Obule (Legal Adviser); Joseph Emekeme (Assistant Secretary); Thomas Inoni (Financial Secretary), and Mr. Paul Dundu (Social Secretary).
