In a bid to fulfil his Workers’ Day promise to improve the welfare and conditions of service of civil servants in Anambra State, Governor Willie Obiano, Monday, signed a Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, with Rockland Development Ltd for the construction of 1,000 housing units for workers in the state.
The development is coming on the heels of the recent handing- over of four 38-seater buses to the Head of Service, Mr. Chidi Ezeoke, to ease the transportation problems of workers commuting to Awka from various locations in the state.
Speaking during the ceremony, Obiano said the move was a practical demonstration of his administration’s interest to improve the lot of the workers.
The governor was represented on the occasion by the Head of Service, Mr. Chidi Ezeoke.
He charged the private developer to keep to the terms of the agreement and ensure that the housing units were completed on schedule.
Earlier in his remarks, the Managing Director of the company, Mr. Obi Eneh thanked the state government for the confidence reposed in his firm and promised to deliver the job on schedule.
