Yola—The Adamawa State House of Assembly, yesterday, summoned the Commissioner for Finance and the Accountant General of the state to appear before it and explain what the house described as indiscriminate deductions from salaries of workers in the state.
The lawmakers also directed the executive arm of the government to as a matter of urgency refund the deductions made from the May salaries of workers on or before Friday, May 30.
Furthermore, the Assembly also asked the government to pay newly recruited teacher who were being owed 19 months arrears of salaries within the next few weeks or face drastic action.
They accused the state government of indiscriminate deductions of salaries through “an unacceptable tax regime.”
