Lagos—A trader, Ifeanyi Ukpha, has appeared before an Ebute Metta Chief Magistrate’s Court over alleged defilement of a five-month-old by inserting his fingers in her private part.
According to the prosecutor, DSP Etim Nkankuk, ”The accused went to the room of the victim’s mother to greet her, and was left alone with the baby by the mother who went to have her bath.”
The prosecutor said that while alone with the baby, the suspect inserted his fingers into the baby’s private part, which caused her to let out a scream due to the sharp pain she felt.
He said on hearing her baby’s scream, the mother quickly dashed out and saw blood coming out of her daughter’s private part.
The suspect is said to be a neighbour of the victim’s parents at 7, Adewale St, Ilaje, Ebute Metta, where the incident happened on April 21, 2014.
