Ebonyi govt threatens communities for vandalised MDGs projects

Abakaliki — Ebonyi State government has warned that it would readily deal with communities which Millennium Development Goals/Conditional Grants Scheme, MDGs/CGS, projects were vandalised.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Projects Monitoring, Mr. Felix Ota, who gave the warning  at a stakeholders’ meeting in Abakaliki, urged the communities to ensure that projects inaugurated in their areas were adequately protected against vandalisation.
According to him, the government will not hesitate to sanction community leaders whose projects are vandalised.

He said the government was committed to infrastructure development in rural communities to enhance the socio-economic condition of rural dwellers.
Earlier, the  MDGs/CGS focal person in the state, Mrs.  Ngozi  Obichukwu, said the programme had covered a number of communities.

Obichukwu said that seven of the 13 local government areas in the state had been covered, adding that the remaining six council areas would be covered in 2015.
She said the programme had helped build primary healthcare  and skills acquisition centres for women and youth empowerment.
