IT was a pitiable sight at the Chief Magistrate’s Court, Nteje in Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra State, yesterday, as tears flowed freely among some onlookers when Mrs. Adaeze Anyakorah, the 65-year-old mother of a detained community leader at Uruebo village, Nkwelle Ezunaka, Mr. Ambrose Anyakorah, was handed a six-count charge for allegedly assaulting and stealing property worth thousands of naira from two prominent people in the community.

Pirates attack tug boat, abduct engineer, captain in Bayelsa

Suspected pirates Saturday, attacked a tug boat belonging to the Nigerian Agip Company, NOAC, along the Nembe creeks in Bayelsa State.
An engineer and the boat’s captain were reportedly kidnapped.
The attack, it was learnt, was launched in the evening by seven armed men suspected to the pirates.

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company, NNPC, said that gas supply to power plants will improve over the next five weeks, following the massive repair works on ruptured gas pipeline in the Niger Delta region.
