Detained community leader’s mother, wife, son charged for assault, stealing


AWKA — IT was a pitiable sight at the Chief Magistrate’s Court, Nteje in Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra State, yesterday, as tears flowed freely among some onlookers when Mrs. Adaeze Anyakorah, the 65-year-old mother of a detained community leader at Uruebo village, Nkwelle Ezunaka, Mr. Ambrose Anyakorah, was handed a six-count charge for allegedly assaulting and stealing property worth thousands of naira from two prominent people in the community.

Charged along with Adaeze was her daughter in-aw, Joy, 40, and grandson, Somtochukwu, 15.

Anyakorah had been having a running battle with those said to be behind the arrest of his mother, wife and son over the chairmanship of Uruebo.
