Defecting from PDP to APC selfish —Delta lawmaker

By Akpokona Omafuaire

WARRI—A member of  Delta State House of Assembly, Mr. Daniel Yingi, representing Burutu constituency I, has said that defections from Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to All Progressives Congress, APC, does not change a person, as those leaving the party were doing so for selfish reasons.

He added that there was no alternative to PDP.

He said that PDP remains the best party in the country with the best ideology, urging Nigerians to continue to support President Goodluck Jonathan, whom he described as a focused and dedicated leader with unequalled service delivery.

Yingi, in a chat with Vanguard in Okpokunou, Burutu Local Government Area of the state, said: “Some governors and other politicians defected from PDP to APC due to selfish reasons and not because the party is bad. PDP will remain the best party in Nigeria in terms of party ideology. APC is not an alternative to PDP. Why do you think APC will make a better party than PDP when they were all once members of the PDP?

“If I change from native clothes to jeans, will that make me a different and better person? President Jonathan has done well in terms of service delivery in line with the party’s campaign manifestoes.

“There are many positive changes in the country. We are happy with the developmental strides of Mr. President. Those defecting to APC or other parties from PDP are doing so for selfish reasons. And I can assure you, at the right time, they will beg to return to their original party,” he said.

Commending Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan for his project distribution across the state, he noted that through the help of the  governor, he was able to affect the living standards of his people from his constituency with the completion of various projects in the last two years, such as construction of five classroom block and installation of solar power in Oboro town.
