NHF holds nutrition seminar

THE Nigerian Heart Foundation, NHF, is organising a Healthy Heart Nutrition Bazaar to further underscore the importance of healthy diets as a catalyst to reduce heart diseases and stroke among Nigerians.

The bazaar, which comes up November 12, 2013, at the Muri Okunola Park Lagos, will feature. Exhibition of heart healthy brands to encourage consumers make hea1thy food choices.

Speaking in Lagos on the theme; “Take the Road to a Healthy Heart”, Vice Chairman, NHF, Dt Femi Mobolaji Lawal said:”The main aim is to educate people and alert them that the threat of heart disease can;begin at an early age, and that most heart diseases and stroke can be prevented by making healthy lifestyle changes: eating healthily, being active and avoiding exposure to tobacco smoke.” …

Quoting Dr Kathryn Taubert, Chief Science Officer, WHF, Lawal said, “Awareness is the first step to a healthy heart. Paying attention to how much we walk should be as simple as watching what we eat. We are urging people to take action to protect their hearts. By reaching the recommended guideline of mimmum30 minutes of moderate exercise, which includes brisk walking at least five days a week, many premature deaths can be prevented.
