KOKORI- POLICE authorities in Delta State have redeployed a Divisional Police Officer, DPO, in Ethiope East Local Government Area for the failure of police in the area to track down arrested kidnap kingpin, Kelvin Oniarah, when he sneaked into Kokori , September 17, and issued a 60-day ultimatum to government.
Delta State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ikechukwu Aduba, relying on the briefing he got from the DPO, had initially maintained that Kelvin did not show up in Kokori, saying the whole affair was stage managed.
It was gathered that discreet investigation carried out by the Command revealed that Kelvin not only stormed the community, as reported by the media, but his group, Liberation Movement for Urhobo People, LIMUP, fired several gun shots into the air.
A source told Vanguard, “The boys fired more than 50 guns shots on that day” and the police worried that such an affront could take place without the knowledge of the police in the area.
A senior police officer, who pleaded anonymity, told Vanguard, “Yes, a DPO was redeployed because of Kelvin; we now have a new DPO there. You know that our Commissioner, Mr. Aduba do not take nonsense. You are his friend when you do your job well, but once you fail in your duty, he takes necessary action.”
