Ex-Super Eagles coach Chief Adegboyega Onigbinde expects victory for the Nigerian side from the World Cup qualifier between the team and the Walya Antelopes of Ethiopia tomorrow in Addis Ababa.
Onigbinde said he expects nothing than the victory from the Super Eagles, the high altitude of Addis Adaba notwithstanding.
He said “The altitude is very important but the weather should not be a problem for the boys. It is too late to talk about the weather, but I believe that the management must have carried out all the necessary things for the boys to be able to cope with the weather.”
Nigeria has lost only once to Ethiopia in seven matches over the years. That was in a 1994 Nations Cup qualifier in Addis Ababa in 1993. Nigeria beat them five times and drew once, a 2-2 in a 2012 Nations Cup qualifier in Addis Ababa. Some of the encounters in the past were cantankerous and fears have been expressed as to the reception awaiting the Super Eagles in Addis Ababa on Sunday.
The players sweated it out in their camp in Abuja before they flew out to Addis Ababa early this morning, a game plan designed by Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, to beat the acclimatization problem in Ethiopia.
