As Nigerians wait with baited breath for the  playoffs draw of the 2014 World Cup, a former Eagles defender, Yisa Sofoluwe has said that Nigeria have the pedigree to qualify for the finals in Brazil.

The draw will be made next Monday and with yesterday’s confirma-tion that the Eagles are amongst the seeded teams for the two-legged playoffs matches holding between October and November, Sofoluwe has said that he was not worried over the team that will confront Nigeria.

As a seeded team, the Eagles are  condemned to facing any of Cameroon, Burkina Faso, Egypt, Ethiopia and Senegal but have the advantage of playing the second leg at home and in a chat with Sports Vanguard yesterday, Sofoluwe said that the coach Stephen Keshi-tutored side have improved a lot and stand in good stead to secure a place in the 2014 soccer showpiece

“There is no reason to worry over the country that Nigeria will face. Under Keshi, it is clear that we have improved a lot and given the players’ determination and our pedigree in this type of situation, I am sure that we will qualify for Brazil 2014.

“We are the team to beat and going by the facts on ground, I see us playing our way to the tournament. Other teams are afraid to face because of our quality. The fear factor is already there and the fact that we are playing the second leg at home has already given us ample advantage over our opponent”, added Sofoluwe.
