Why we’ve not resumed sitting – Delta House

By AUSTIN OGWUDA

THE leadership of Delta State House of Assembly, yesterday, said its resumption of sitting, after members’ overseas’ training session, was caused by the digitalisation of the hallowed chamber and Peoples Democratic Party’s congress in Calabar, which members were attending.

Fielding questions from newsmen in his office in Asaba, House Committee Chairman on Information, Mr. Johnson Erijo, however, assured Deltans that the House would resume in two weeks to enable construction work aimed at digitalising the entire hallowed chambers to be completed.

The State Assembly had gone on recess since July 18 and was expected to resume on August 6, but members proceeded on public policy and leadership training at the University of California, United States of America, to avoid idling away.

On the allegation that the House spent a whopping sum of N1.5 billion, he said the amount was far below the figure being touted and called on media practitioners and the public to take advantage of the Fiscal Responsibility and the Freedom of Information laws to verify the authenticity of the claim.
