OSOGBO — Osun State Government has declared that it will construct 1,000 low cost housing units as part of its urban renewal programme.

The low cost housing scheme which will cost the state government a sum of N2billion is aimed at cushioning the effect of clearing of illegal buildings from the road.

The state Commisioner for Finance, Budget and Economic Planning, Dr. Wale Bolorunduro, stated this while receiving a delegation from the French Development Agency with a view to partnering with the foreign agency on the on-going urban renewal project.

Bolorunduro, who spoke on behalf of Governor Rauf Aregbesola, reiterated the strong determination of the state government to develop nine selected cities under the urban renewal programme.

The commissioner declared that the urban renewal programme of the state government will gulp up to N28billion, adding that that was why the state is seeking the assistance of the French agency.
