WARRI — United Daudu Progressive Movement, UDPM, has expressed concern over interference by non-indigenes in the leadership affairs of Alder’s Town Community in Warri South Local Government Area, Delta State.
UPDM said it has been working over the years for the development of the communities that make up the Daudu area, which comprise Ogedegbe, Iyara, Pessu, Alders Town, Ereku, among others.
Chairman of the movement, Mr Dere Cheke, expressed displeasure over the imposition of non-natives as executive by strangers, whose singular objective, according to him is to protect their personal interest to the detriment of the community, which bears the brunt of bad leadership.
The group also frowned at the situation where aborigines were relegated to the background by strangers, adding “this trend must stop, the voice of the people in the community must be heard as is done in other Itsekiri communities for anything short of it will be resisted.”
He thanked Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan for rebuilding the Alder’s Town Primary School to international standard, pledging to protect the facilities in the school from been damaged by hoodlums.
