Rangers upbeat despite slim win

Rangers are confident they will reach the league stage of the Confederation Cup despite a slim 1-0 home win over CS Sfaxien on Sunday.

Ugonna Uzochukwu scored the only goal of the match in the 87th minute, but the defender will miss the reverse fixture after he was sent off for a second looking in the dying minutes of the encounter.

The third round return leg in Tunisia is in a fortnight and Rangers striker Oghogho Oduokpe told MTNFootball.com the Enugu club hope to get a result on the road so as to make it to the mini-league phase of Africa’s second-tier club competition.

“What matters now is that we won. Though it was a narrow win, we can go to Tunisia and get draw or even beat them. We will work harder ahead of the second leg,” said Oduokpe, who watched the game from the stands due to injury.

CS Sfaxien will host Rangers in the weekend of May 31-June 2
