Yenagoa — GOVERNOR Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State has blamed the nation’s security woes on insufficient investment in human capacity development and failure of most critical state institutions.

Dickson, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Daniel Iworiso-Markson, when the Director-General and participants of Course 35 of the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies, NIPSS, Kuru, Plateau State called on him in Yenagoa, identified the provision of a secure environment as the first responsibility of government.

He vowed that his administration will not compromise in the maintenance of law and order, adding that the current administration had in the past one year made appropriate investments in the provision of law and order.

Dickson said: “Within one year, we have been able to provide this level of security and peace and tranquility that you are going to witness as you go out there to interact with the people of the state.

“But we are not yet where we ought to be. That is why we are working with our partners to see how we can make our waterways safe, so that our strategic assets will be secured and our people, who live along the waterways will also be safe.”

He commended the Director-General and staff of NIPSS for keeping the dreams of its founding fathers alive.
