Newly appointed Technical Director of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF Amodu Shaibu has warned the Super Eagles not to put all their strings to win the FIFA Confederations Cup and lose focus on the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifiers which is more important.

Amodu who was at the glasshouse headquarters of the NFF with the duo of his assistants Kashimawo Laloko and James Peter on Monday told Vanguard Sports that the expectations of Nigerians would be very high as the Super Eagles confront other confederations cup winners at the FIFA Confederation cup competition in Brazil next month but noted that there will be no benefit from winning the competition without qualifying for the World Cup.

The former Super Eagles Coach noted further that the world cup qualifying games are more crucial than the confederation cup and as such the Super Eagles should concentrate more on their remaining qualifying games than the confederation cup which has nothing at stake other than prestige.

He maintained that the confederation cup should serve as a testing ground for the team since Coach Keshi is still building a formidable team adding that with the invitation of new players to the team, the team needs time to blend and a competition like the confederation cup can readily serve that purpose.

Amodu regretted that Nigerians would mount pressure on the team to win the confederation cup as African champions but argued that the country should do away with the win at all cost syndrome as the Super Eagles do not have anything to lose by not winning the confederation cup.
