PDP faults Lagos govt policies

By Dotun Ibiwoye

Chairman, Lagos State Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, South-South Forum, Mr. Sunday Ekanem, has said that most of the policies of Lagos State Government were callous and anti-people

Ekanem noted that despite the state having the highest internally generated revenue, IGR, in the country, highest collector of Value Added Tax, VAT, coupled with revenue from the Federal Government allocation, the state is strangely the most indebted in the country.

In a chat with Vanguard, he noted that the banning of commercial motor bikes, commonly called okada, was  wrong and wicked because majority of the populace were not considered.

“We can all see that the programmes of the Lagos State Government are anti-poor. There is no provision for the poor. The Makoko people are still homeless and the government is still demolishing houses everyday.

“We are not saying that government does not have any right to ban Okada or demolish houses obstructing drainage, but they should have made alternative provision to relocate the people affected.”
