Asaba – The Organisation For the Advancement of Anioma Culture (OFAAC) has honoured Stephen Keshi, the Super Eagles’ Head Coach, and Prof. Damas Nwoko who is a sculpture and painter, for excellence.

The  OFAAC, the cultural affinity of Delta’s Anioma people, recognised Keshi as a football legend and Nwoko for excelling in painting and sculpturing.

The  organisation gave the two personalities a plaque each at a lecture to mark its 10th anniversary on Friday in Asaba, Delta.

The lecture’s theme was “Celebrating the Heart and Soul of Anioma’’, with the lecture’s title “Prospects, Potential and Place of Anioma in the Geographical Evolution of Nigeria (Anioma, Her Burning Issues and the Fourth Cockcrow)’’.

In his address the OFAAC National President, Mr Kester Ifeadi, lauded the duo of Keshi and Nwoko for doing the people of Anioma proud in their chosen careers.

“There is no better time to celebrate Keshi and Nwoko than now when the organisation is marking its 10th anniversary.

“Keshi is an accomplished footballer and a model for the youth, while Nwoko is a mentor and builder who has turned his home in Idumuje Ugboko into a tourist centre,’’ he said.

The Asagba of Asaba, Prof. Chike Edozien who was the chairman of the occasion, thanked OFAAC for its role in building unity among the Anioma people through culture.

“We are here today to honour two of our sons who have done us proud. We are honouring Keshi and Nwoko for doing us proud nationally and internationally,’’ he said.

The royal father prayed for the continued unity of the Anioma people and urged OFAAC to continue to showcase the people’s culture.

Responding on behalf of the recipients, Nwoko thanked OFAAC for recognising their contributions.

He said that the recognition would spur them to be steadfast in contributing to the development of the people.(NAN)
