South Africa cult hero and former Manchester United legend, Quinton Fortune has tipped the Super Eagles of Nigeria to beat their Burkina Faso counterparts in Sunday’s 2013 Africa Cup of Nations final.

After reviewing the performances of both teams in the tournament and their pedigree, Fortune who is on tour of Nigeria under the aegis of the Manchester United/DHL logistics partnership agreement says the Nigerian team is head and shoulder above the Stallions of Burkina Faso.

Speaking at a cocktail organised by DHL Express at the Wheat Baker Hotel, Ikoyi, Fortune said, “Nigeria will win the final because they have done exceedingly well. The Super Eagles defeated Ivory Coast, when nobody gave them a chance. That was the strongest team in the tournament.”

When reminded that Burkina Faso too defeated Ghana, one of the pre-tournament favourites, Quinton insisted, “when Nigeria played Ivory Coast, I said whoever won that match would win Afcon 2013 and Nigeria won the match. I still maintain that position. If they can approach the match the same way, without underrating the Burkinabes, they will win the trophy.”

The cocktail was well attended by VIP guests that included former national team handler and FIFA instructor, Adegboye Onigbinde and hordes of Man U fans.
