AWKA—THE Orodje of Okpe kingdom, Orhue 1, in Delta State, will be installed pro-chancellor of Anambra State University, ANSU, Uli in Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State, today.
The Okpe monarch, who is already in Anambra State for the installation ceremony, yesterday, paid a courtesy call on the traditional ruler of Awka, Obi Gibson Nwosu, the Eze Uzu 11, with members of his cabinet.
Obi Nwosu, who congratulated the Orodje for his appointment, said he shared a lot of things in common with the Orodje, adding that apart from both being retired military officers, they were pro-chancellors of universities.
Nwosu is the pro-chancellor ofUsmanDanfodioUniversity, Sokoto, and was a retired Air Force officer, while the Orodje was a retired Army General and is now the pro-chancellor of ANSU.
In his speech, the Orodje informed the Eze Uzu Awka that he decided to pay him the visit to inform him of his presence in his kingdom and urged him to participate at the ceremony.
He also commended the government ofAnambraStateand authorities of ANSU for the honour of naming him the pro-chancellor of the university.
Apart from the installation of the Okpe monarch as pro-chancellor of ANSU today, two prominent Nigerians, namely Professor Chukwuemeka Ike, a foremost author and traditional ruler of Ndikelionwu in Anambra State and Prof. Sylvanus Cookie, former Vice- Chancellor of University of Port Harcourt, would be awarded honorary doctorate degrees of the university during the fourth convocation ceremony at the main campus of the university at Uli.
