No fewer than 400 golfers are expected to compete in the 6th edition of the Central Bank ofNigeria Governors’ Golf Tournament, which kicks off at the IBB Golf and Country Club,Abuja, at the weekend.
The two-day sporting event, will start on Saturday and end on Sunday with a live performance by music star, Onyeka Onwenu and Kukere creator, Iyanya.
CBN Director of Corporate Commu-nications, Ugo Okoroafor, announced that several prizes had been lined up for the winners in several Categories and Handicaps.
Okoroafor disclosed that the organisers had gone a step further to make the 6th edition of the event, which has been tagged, CBN Governor’s Golf Cup, a memorable one in the annals of golf competitions inNigeria.
He stated that the interest of the bank was not limited to Golf, as it was also involved in the sponsorship of the All Financial Institutions Football Competition, the CBN Senior Lawn Tennis Open Championship and the CBN Junior Open Tennis Tournament.
The apex bank’s spokesman said, “I want to re-affirm that the sponsorship of the CBN Governor’s Golf Cup Tournament has come to stay.
The objective of this event is to develop the game of Golf and provide an atmosphere for recreational activities.
“This annual event also
creates a platform for interaction and building up a spirit of friendship, consolidate network partnership and explore potential business possibilities.
