By Abdulwahab Abdulah

As Muslims across the globe celebrate Eid-el-Adha after Millions of faithfuls converged yesterday at Mount Arafat to glorify Allah, S.W.T., Nigeria Muslims have been urged to imbibe the significance of  Eid-el-Adha by being dedicated and obedient to Allah.

The call was made by the President of  The Companion, Alhaji Wale Sonaike who urged Muslims across the globe to use the occasion of this year ‘s Eid  to dedicate themselves to God, loving and helpful to fellow human being.

In his lecture titled: “ Eid-el-Adha: Origin and Significance,” organised by The Companion, a group of Muslim professionals, a University Don, Dr. Lookman  Adedeji, said what revolve around the celebration is a story of genuine love and unconditional obedience to the command of Allah.

According to Adedeji, apart from the love the day  fosters among Muslims as a result of giving out meat and other gift items among themselves and members of their family, it reminds them of  Ibrahim’s dedication and obedience to his Lord and  a period when children must study the life of Ismail and learn how to obey their parents.

The lecturer said the period is one “when we must constantly obey Allah in all that He has commanded, while putting one’s  trust in Him.

Dr. Adedeji observed that eating and drinking was part of the celebrations, however, “the occasion must be a period when wives must re-evaluate their relationships with their husbands. He urged Muslims to  constantly obey Allah in all that He has commanded, while putting one’s  trust in Him.
