NFF unveils Ikhana tomorrow

Former U-23 National Team Head Coach, Kadiri Ikhana (MON) will be unveiled as Head Coach of the Senior Women National Team, nicknamed Super Falcons, on Wednesday.

Ikhana’s appointment as Head Coach of the Super Falcons was ratified by the NFF Executive Committee at its emergency meeting in Abuja on Wednesday, March 28. The 1980 African Cup of Nations winner will be on a four-year contract.

The Falcons remain Africa’s strongest team, with six wins out of seven African Women Championships since 1998, and having represented the continent in all FIFA Women’s World Cup since 1991, and at the Olympic Games in 2000, 2004 and 2008.

With the Falcons’ strangely failing to qualify for the 2012 Olympic Games in London, after a penalty shoot-out defeat by Cameroon, Ikhanahas a job to turn around the fortunes of the team and ensure that Nigeria not only qualifies for the World Cup.
