UGHELLI – ELEVEN mono-pumps have been commissioned by  Shell Petroleum Development Company, SPDC, at Oghior, Udu Local Government Area, Delta State under the company’s Global Memorandum of Understanding, GMoU.

President General of the community, Chief Samuel Brigue at the event, thanked Shell for the gesture, adding “the commissioning of the 11 mono-pumps marks another milestone in the history and relationship of the community and Shell.”

Brigue, who spoke through his vice, Mr. Amos Ogidia, noted that Shell also gave scholarship to17 students of Oghior origin in both tertiary institutions and secondary schools, adding that the Community Trust in conjunction with the community leadership would ensure that the mono-pumps spreads across the five quarters of the community.

Leader of the GMoOU implementation team, Shell West, Dr. Benka-Coker said the GMoU was delivering on its mandate, noting Oghior was the only community that had commissioned two projects within one month interval.

She said: “Good water as you all know is very essential to human existence and from my examination on the mono-pumps, they meet the World Health Organisation standard and it is portable because its germs free and that will help members of the community health’s status.”
