Onigbinde, Elahor contented with Eagles barren draw

CAF Technical Study Group member, Chief  Adeboye Onigbinde and ex Super Eagles winger, Friday Elaho have expressed satisfaction with the performance of the new-look Eagles presented by coach Stephen Keshi in the scoreless 2013 Nations Cup qualifier against the Wasps of  Rwanda  at the Stade Regionale de Nyamirambo in Kigali.

Commenting on the tie, Chief Onigbinde and Elahor believe the goalless draw was a good result for Keshi even as they look ahead to the return leg on June 15, 2012. According to Onigbinde, it was an ignition that will definitely grow into being a toast of Nigerians.

“Ordinarily, it is obvious that it was a good away result only that Nigerians were expecting victory from the game which I believe is the reason why they are a bit worried. They have the return leg to prove themselves and I am optimistic that we will get some level of joy at the end,” Onigbinde said.

On his part, Elahor, a former ACB of Lagos winger appealed to Nigerians not to use the result to measure the team as it is too early, given the re-building process of the team.

“It is a good result for the team and not a bad start for Keshi as a coach. Nigerians should not see it as a bad result because he (Keshi) is building a team with the composition of local and foreign based players which will take a little while to blend.

“I believe they will be able to overturn the tie in June when the return leg will be played here in Nigeria. By then, Keshi would have had more time with the team and we will definitely get a better result then,” Elahor said.
