Dickson’s restoration agenda saves N1bn

By Samuel Oyadongha

Sequel to his promise to reduce the cost of governance in his inaugural address, Bayelsa State Governor Seriake Dickson has saved over N1 billion for the state government within his first 10 days in office.

Dickson disclosed this in Government House, Yenagoa during the swearing-in ceremony of the new Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Professor Edmund Allison-Oguru, and five special advisers.

The governor, who decried what he called the over-bloated allocation  to Government House, said the savings came from cuts from maintenance cost and other sundry expenses from Government House alone.

The governor, who had pledged to start the cost saving exercise with himself, said the money saved would  be ploughed back into revamping the critical sectors of the economy.
