Uba denies rift with Gov Obi

 BY VINCENT UJUMADU

AWKA—OIL magnet, Chief Ifeanyi Ubah, has denied any rift with Governor Peter Obi over his (Ubah’s) alleged Anambra governorship ambition in 2014, saying the rumours were a calculated campaign by idle people to smear his image.

Those behind the rumour had claimed that Ubah threatened to fight political battle against the governor for allegedly refusing to endorse him for the governorship of the state on the platform of All Progressives Alliance, APGA, after his tenure in 2014.

In a statement in Awka, Ubah, who recently set up a foundation for improvement of welfare of the less privileged people in the society, said there was no iota of truth in the rumour and urged the people to ignore it.

“I wish to state categorically that the rumours are unfounded and are mere campaigns of calumny. These are deliberate fallacies being propagated by charlatans and disgruntled elements to smear my well earned good image,” the statement said.

He advised members of the public to beware of people whose stock in trade was to pull down others and assured that nothing would deter him from continuing to assist the less privileged.
