ABUJA – AS organised labour moves to test its popularity against government’s decision to stop subsidising petroleum products, Governor Jonah Jang of Plateau State, Thursday, slammed the leadership of Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, for calling out workers on a nationwide strike, saying the aggrieved labour leaders did not wish Nigeria well.
Governor Jang, who was in Aso Rock to confer with President Goodluck Jonathan on the situation in his state, took few questions from newsmen, maintaining that labour leaders should be more interested in the judicious use of the money that will accrue from the removal.
He said: “Honestly, NLC has no interest of this nation at heart. I am 100 per cent in support of the removal of fuel subsidy because we have allowed things to just happen anyhow for too long.
“The money that has been cornered by few individuals can now be spread out. More money can now go to states for development.”
“I believe this subsidy is for the good of the common man. Anybody that is saying he doesn’t want subsidy removed is not being fair, is not being sincere.
