The Nigeria Olympians Association NOA, has sent a message of congratulations to Chief Solomon Ogba, who was yesterday inaugurated as a member of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) board.
A release issued by Frank Ilaboya, the Press Secretary of NOA, quotes the President of the body, Prince Henry Amike as saying that Ogba’s appointment was the best thing to happen in recent times because he (Ogba) is a performer and a great achiever.
“I came in from Switzerland on Tuesday to be greeted with the good news of Ogba’s appointment and inauguration into the NDDC Board,” added Amike, an exemplary hurdler in his days.
“I believe Ogba’s appointment is a new dawn and a great opportunity to impact on sportsmen and women in the Niger Delta Region.”
“Ogba,” he explained, “will bring his wealth of experience to solve the youth restiveness in the Niger Delta through articulate sports programmes” like Dr Samuel Ogbemudia did when he was Governor of old Bendel region.
“The NOA family is behind him and wish him all the best,” Amike added.
Ogba, one time Commissioner of Sports in Delta State, is currently the President of Athletic Federation of Nigeria (AFN), and also the Second Vice President of the Nigeria Olympic Committee.
His inauguration yesterday by President, Goodluck Jonathan, into the NDDC Board, is another feather to his cap.
