Mikel faces more Chelsea frustration

Chelsea are eager to sign Everton midfielder, Jack Rodwell to fortify their midfield department. And this could mean more competition for John Obi Mikel who earlier in the week voiced his frustration over his lack of playing time.

Also couple with the fact that Ghana’s Michael Essien is expect to make recovery from his injury next season, Mikel might as well look for another club or at best raise his game to keep up with competition for shirts in the Andre Villas-Boas’

team.

Chelsea are facing competition from Tottenham and Manchester City whom are also interested in the player in the highly-rated 20-year-old, whose performances have led to a call-up to Fabio Capello’s England side.

Villas-Boas, who is keen to continue refreshing his aging squad in the January transfer window and is said to be impressed with Rodwell’s ability to play adeptly in midfield or central defence.

Everton coach David Moyes will be reluctant to let Rodwell leave considering the Toffees have one of the smallest squads in the Premier League, but the club’s money problems are well documented, and with the player under contract until 2015, the Merseyside outfit could secure a fee of around £20million.
