Siasia defends Eagles’list

Super Eagles coach Samson Siasia has said that the camp for the Guinea match will open on October 3 in Abuja, and will immediately go into the final phase of their preparations for the match.

Explaining his choice of players, Siasia said he had put current form as well as the team’s needs into consideration and had given no room for any sentiments.

“This has been done with no sentiments, and all I have done has been based on current form and who and what we need,” he said.

The coach, however, said the choice of Ukah was based on what he had heard of him and had invited him for only the Ghana game because of the seriousness of the Guinea match.

“Ukah, who is a defender has been doing well in his club based on what I have heard, even though I have not watched him.

“But as the Guinea match is not for playerstrying to gain experience, I have only invited him for the Ghana game,” he said.

Speaking on the list, Vice-Chairman of  NFA’s Technical Committee, Chief Felix Anyansi-Agwu, gave an assurance  that Siasia had picked the best players available.

“Our committee has deliberated on the list and we are sure everything is safe as it is in view of the crucial nature of the match against Guinea.

“We have also put in everything to ensure that all things go well with the match,” the NFA Executive Committee member said.
